Technical

Welcome to the technical section of the DDRP web site. Currently this contains four sub-sections:

(i) Road Scenes - photographs of the road and brief captions.
(ii) The Road - a summary of the feasibility studies, investigations, design, construction, remedial works and maintenance operations, with cross-reference to the photographs.
(iii) The Structures - a summary of design and construction of the bridges and culverts, notably the Tamur Bridge (steel truss) and Leoti Khola and Ruduwa Khola Bridges (concrete arches).
(iv) Documentation - a brief description of published and unpublished documents concerning the road, together with reference lists.

Comments and suggestions for amendments or additions to the technical section are welcome at any time and should be sent to content@ddrp.co.uk.

Road - 010

The road chainage lengths referred to in the technical section are the original chainages devised for the project, with the zero point located at the southern junction of the Dharan-Dhankuta Road with the Dharan-Phusre road (see the Road Location Map and RSP 1). Following extension of the road network north of Dhankuta to Hile and Basantapur by the early 1990s, the Dharan-Dhankuta Road was included as part of the ‘Koshi Highway’ from Biratnagar to Basantapur. The original road chainage lengths are no longer in common use.
